Wilmington Execs Flex For Fittest Execs Title

In a culmination of three months of blood, sweat and tears, the area’s fittest executives and teams stepped up on stage at the Greater Wilmington Business Journal’s Fittest Execs After Hours event last week to receive their laurels.

Eight local execs competed for the crown of Fittest Male Executive and Fittest Female Executive by pushing the clock during 10 minutes of intense circuit training reps.

Wilmington principal of CapVal, Becky Parker O’Daniell and Wilmington Health Associates CEO Jeff James won the competition by completing about 130 push-ups, sit-ups and squats each.

The team at IronGate Partners – David Harness, Cleve Nordeen, Steve Coggins and Chris Jones – won the title of Fittest Team.

The most improved team was Shell Island Resort’s Jeff Monroe, Dixon Putnam, Nicole Jones, Rick Guttenberger and Will Lear. Receiving second place for most improved team was New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Martha Harlan, Karen Pleva, Leslie Kesler, Dan Goodwin and Kevin Briggs. Third place for most improved team went to Greater Wilmington Business Journal’s Maggi Apel, Alison Satake, Craig Snow, Suesan Sullivan and Judy Budd.

Winners of the most improved female executive in the 25 to 39-year old range were Stephanie Allen (first place), Alison Delaney (second place) and Crystal McDaniel (third place.) In the 40 to 49-year old women’s group, Deborah Goodman (first place), Kim Futrell (second place) and Suesan Sullivan (third place) won. And, in the 50 years old and over age group, Debbie Brooks (first place), Mary Anne Torbich (second place) and Donna Damiano (third place) won.

The most improved male executives in the 25 to 39-year old age category were Dixon Putnam (first place), Rick Moore (second place) and Marrio Jeter (third place). The male executives in the 40 to 49-year old group were Dean McCormick (first place), Dave Summerfield (second place) and Robert Boswell (third place). Winning the most improved male executive in the 50 years old and over category were Rick Guttenberger (first place), Herb McKim (second place) and Brian McMerty (third place.)
