The Lighthouse Film Company Inc., a full-service production company based in Wilmington, is set to relocate into an early-1900s building in the Brooklyn Arts District.

The local film production company, currently housed at 2841 Carolina Beach Road, has secured space as the main tenant at 926 N. Fourth St. in downtown Wilmington, according to Andrea Walker, producer and co-owner of Lighthouse Films.

Walker said it could take about six months before Lighthouse Films can move into the new space due to renovation. The company has held its current space off Carolina Beach Road for two-and-a-half years.

“An investment entity has purchased the building at 926 N. 4th St., and Lighthouse Films will be the main tenant in the building. We look forward to moving our operation to the north end of downtown Wilmington,” said Walker, who owns the company along with her husband, Brad, director and cinematographer for Lighthouse Films.

Lighthouse Films is one of two tenants set to locate to the building (left) once work is complete, she said.

Summit River Properties LLC purchased the property on June 9 for $660,000, according to New Hanover County records. According to property records, the 6,305-square-foot building was built in 1903.

“We’ve waited to move downtown for some time, and this building has some parking around it that will make our company accessible … and so we are really looking forward to it,” Andrea Walker said.

“The growth down there is really exciting. And the creative, artistic community -- we’re excited to be a part of that,” she said.

Lighthouse Films has grown over the past two-and-a-half years to a total of six employees. The company travels throughout the country and internationally for projects, and has produced a campaign video for JP Morgan Chase. And in Wilmington, it has held Michelin as a client to shoot a commercial in 2016, as well as worked on promotional marketing for Intracoastal Realty.

While not all of Lighthouse Films' business is set in Wilmington, Andrea Walker said "whenever we have the opportunity to bring a production here or to convince a client to shoot in Wilmington as a location, we work hard to do that."

The company also offers "extensive" lighting and camera packages to customers. Currently at maximum capacity at its current building, the new location on North Fourth Street will more than double the space for Lighthouse Films, she said.

“We love operating from Wilmington, North Carolina,” Andrea Walker said. "This community is filled with so many creative … talented film professionals and we just love working beside them."
