University of North Carolina Wilmington Film Studies instructor Andre Silva’s animated film “Ichthyopolis” has attracted a great deal of attention and continues to win awards at film festivals across the country.
The film recently won an award for best animation at the South Dakota Animation Festival and first prize at the Carborro Film Festival. Both awards included a cash prize.
The movie is described on the UNCW Film Studies Department Web site as a “short psychedelic techno-animation film.” It also won awards at film festivals earlier in 2009.
“Ichthyopolis” was screened at the recent Cucalorus Film Festival.
