When she retired in 2008, she received a Lifetime Achievement Emmy from the National Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Fortunately for Wilmington, Girard didn’t take to retirement.
In December 2013, Girard announced she was co-founding a Wilmington school for at-risk girls in 6th to 12th grades.
The Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington (GLOW) is scheduled to open in August. Its mission is not only to have every student graduate, but to also ensure each young woman gets into college with the financial aid she needs.
Join us March 8 to hear from Judy about her career, lessons learned along the way and her plans for GLOW.
This special lunch is part of WILMA’s Women to Watch Leadership Initiative. This initiative was launched last year to help develop more women leaders in Wilmington-area businesses, non-profits, government bodies and boards of directors. To learn more, visit WilmasToWatch.com.
