Hurricane Florence lasted a few days, but it’ll take years to fix vulnerabilities the storm exposed and distribute tens of millions of dollars in recovery funds. As our community rallied in response to the storm, the challenges piled up — we became an island, shelters leaked, our water system was nearly shuttered and an existing affordable housing issue was exasperated. On June 13, the panel will focus on the future, discussing plans for the recovery funds and how to address the challenges posed by the next H word.
