Occupying the second floor of The Offices of Mayfaire III marks a major milestone for DermOne Dermatology Centers, a nationwide group.

Earlier this year, the company partnered with physician Kamran Goudarzi of Wilmington, a provider of scarless vein treatment, to offer treatment of venous diseases for the first time in the firm’s history, a service it is expanding to more of its offices.

DermOne has 40 offices in five states, with a hub in New Jersey.

After the partnership was announced in March, Goudarzi moved from Howe Creek Landing to The Offices at Mayfaire III, the office building behind Harris Teeter in Mayfaire Community Center, about three months ago.

In July, DermOne also partnered with Wilmington physician Deidra Blanks, who specializes in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Last week, DermOne celebrated the grand opening of the Mayfaire location, and the merging of DermOne, Atlantic Dermatology, Scarless Vein Care and Wilmington Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery, with a variety of events that started Sept. 26, including an appearance by actor Robert Wagner.

“One of the exciting things about our Mayfaire office is it’s really the model for what we’re aiming to do in the near term in all of our other regions, which is really to integrate these various specialties,” said Stephen Pohlmeyer, regional director for DermOne of North Carolina.

The integrated offerings, he said, “can meet more of our patients’ needs beyond simply dermatology.”

The 12,000-square-foot Mayfaire office, which includes 27 exam rooms with 60 percent of the space devoted to vein care and 40 percent to dermatology and plastic surgery, is also the company’s national training center.

“In any given week, we’ve got somewhere between one and three physician partners from across the country coming in and spending time with us, learning from us and taking what they’ve learned to our other offices,” Pohlmeyer said.

DermOne acquired Atlantic Dermatology, a Wilmington practice at 1099 Medical Center Drive, in 2012.

Led by Jonathan Crane, the Medical Center Drive facility is DermOne’s primary dermatology office in North Carolina.

DermOne’s additional North Carolina offices are in Shallotte, Southport, Burgaw, Jacksonville and Clinton.
