BIZTALK: Reopening Area Attractions After Nearly Six Months

By Staff Reports, posted Sep 24, 2020
After shutting their doors for about six months, museums and attractions recently began seeing visitors again.

The leaders of two of the area’s largest attractions joined us for BizTalk at noon Wednesday to talk about the reopening. Anne Brennan, executive director of the Cameron Art Museum, and Hap Fatzinger, director of the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher, also discussed finding ways to connect with the community virtually while their facilities were shut down and what the loss of visitor revenue for six months means for their outlooks.

The state’s Phase 2.5 of easing the restrictions aimed to slow the spread of the coronavirus went into effect Sept. 4. Museums and aquariums were among the places allowed to reopen – with capacity limits – under the latest phase, which also cleared the way for gyms to reopen and gathering sizes to increase to 25 people indoors and 50 people outdoors.
