Army Chooses First Citizens For Banking Award

By Jenny Callison, posted Sep 12, 2014
First Citizens Bank has won the Army’s Distinguished Bank Service Award as the best bank on an Army post in the continental United States, bank officials announced in late August.

The honor recognizes the Raleigh-headquartered bank “for its commitment to provide comprehensive products and efficient services to soldiers, civilians and families on Fort Bragg” for 2013.

First Citizens is currently celebrating its 75th year of serving the army base by Fayetteville. It was one of the first banks in the United States to establish an office on a U.S. military post, opening its initial location on Fort Bragg in 1939, the release stated. Today, First Citizens has three branches on the base.

The award nomination highlighted the bank’s initiatives to support military customers, services provided to the base and financial education and training efforts. The award also recognized the working partnership between First Citizens, the base bank liaison officer and the bank staff, according to the release.
