Architecture firm LS3P was honored with multiple awards at the annual AIA Wilmington Design Awards event held Oct. 14 at Cameron Art Museum.

LS3P’s four award-winning projects included multifamily residential, recreation, commercial and net-zero designs that were recognized for design excellence. LS3P was awarded the following:

Honor Award – Passage Home, Raleigh: This conceptual affordable housing design for a historically Black neighborhood in Raleigh honors the stakeholders’ desire for housing with dignity that will inspire change, optimism and respect for the rich cultural history of the community.

Honor Award – Wilmington sports park: The design for this sports complex reclaims a landfill as civic and recreational space for the city of Wilmington. Designed as the first net-zero building owned by the city, the long, linear building acts as a threshold, billboard, pathway, wayfinding, destination and shelter. Resilient design strategies provide durability during high wind events on the coastal site.

Merit Award – Live Oak Bank Building 3, Wilmington: As the third office building for an innovative corporate campus, this project continues the existing coastal aesthetic and prioritizes framed views of its natural site. A four-story vertical atrium encourages cross-departmental interactions with an inviting shared space for dining and gathering.

Citation Award – Baker Motors Luxury Collection, Wilmington: This showroom for Baker Motors features an expansive transparent glass volume to showcase the company’s high-end automobiles. The materials palette of curtainwall, steel, and metal panel lends a modern aesthetic, and the carefully considered minimal detailing allows the product to take center stage.
