Gloria Monroe has been certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional by the National Development Council, according to a news release.

Monroe is a business counselor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington's Small Business Technology and Development Center (SBTDC). In her role with the SBTDC, Monroe offers business counseling to small-to-mid-sized company business owners and management staff in the region.

The Economic Development Finance Professional certification is "a professional credential given to individuals who successfully complete [the National Development Council’s] intensive economic development finance training series," stated the release.

The training provides instruction in business credit analysis, real estate financing, loan packaging, deal structuring and negotiating and the creation and implementation of development programs, officials said.
