EmergeOrtho Adds Physician Assistants

EmergeOrtho has announced the addition of four physician assistants to its care team.

Carlie Black, Mark Burch, Kayla Hall and Tara Tarleton are working at locations in Wilmington, according to a news release.

Black is a provider at AccessOrtho, EmergeOrtho’s orthopedic urgent care clinic on Oleander Drive, stated the release. She treats acute orthopedic injuries and works with Shawn Hocker, an orthopedic surgeon. She has experience in general orthopedics and sports medicine.

Black earned a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. After working as an EMT and a physical therapy tech, she earned a Master of Physician Assistant Medicine from the University of Lynchburg in Virginia, officials said. 

Burch (right) works closely with orthopedic surgeon Robert Boswell​ at EmergeOrtho's Shipyard Boulevard location, stated the release.

Burch has held positions as a surgical technician, a hospitalist PA-C, and has five years of experience as an orthopedic physician assistant. His experience includes general orthopedics, sports medicine, upper extremities and total joint replacement, officials said.

He earned his bachelor's degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College, and went on to study biology at West Virginia State University. He completed the physician assistant program at the University of Charleston.

Hall (left) works with Richard Bahner, an orthopedic surgeon, at the Shipyard Boulevard location and EmergeOrtho's Porters Neck location. 

She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a master's degree in physician assistant studies from Wake Forest School of Medicine. 

And Tarleton (right) works with EmergeOrtho trauma surgeons Christopher Parks and Neil MacIntyre at the Shipyard Boulevard location. 

She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing in 2015 and has several years of experience as an emergency department registered nurse. She is also a graduate of Campbell University’s Physician Assistant program.
