The N.C. Public Health Association has named Pender County’s health department the 2019 Health Department of the Year, according to a news release.
The association honors public health departments annually and categorizes each department by service population, stated the release.
Pender County Health Department won in the Large category for a population of 60,000 or more, officials said in the release. The award was presented during the association’s annual fall conference in Greensboro.
“It was a huge surprise and a tremendous honor,” Carolyn Moser, Pender County Health and Human Services director, said in the release. “The association presented us a check for $1,000. The award will be used for employee continuing education."
