Several Wilmington advisers have made an industry ranking Forbes list.

Aaron Talley and Katie Medina, two Wilmington-area advisers, were ranked on Forbes' “Best-In-State Next-Gen Wealth Advisors” list for 2019.

Talley, a PIM portfolio manager, senior financial adviser and senior vice president of investments at Wells Fargo Advisors, also made the list, ranking No. 16 in the state. He graduated from Liberty University while serving in the Marine Corps. He has been working with individual investors for 15 years.

Medina, with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, is a vice president and senior financial adviser. She was ranked No. 45 on the list of North Carolina advisers.

Medina  (right) brings 11 years of wealth management experience to the Wilmington office. She graduated from Hamilton College, majoring in African studies and economics. Following graduation, she spent time in the Peace Corps.

Medina is a certified financial planner, a certified divorce financial analyst and a chartered retirement planning counselor.

Forbes' “Best-In-State Next-Gen Wealth Advisors” list represents advisers who are the future of the industry for 2019.

Each adviser is selected by SHOOK Research, and an algorithm of qualitative and quantitative criteria, including in-person interviews, industry experience, compliance records, revenue produced and assets under management, according to the website.

Other area advisers -- Brad Hudson, R. Sheldon Scherer and Jason Wheeler -- each made Forbes' “Best In State Wealth Advisors” 2019 list, earlier this year.

Hudson is a senior wealth partner at Sound Harbor Wealth Partners, an investment advisory firm that offers services through Raymond James Financial Services Advisors. He ranked No. 46 in the state.

Hudson (left) joined Raymond James in February 2006 after five years at Morgan Stanley. He has been a financial adviser and branch manager for more than 18 years.

He is a certified financial planner, certified investment management analyst, accredited investment fiduciary, and has received the designation of estate planning consultant.

Hudson currently serves as treasurer for the board of trustees for Coastal Horizons Center. He graduated magna cum laude from East Carolina University with a bachelor's degree in finance.

Scherer is managing director, wealth management adviser with Merrill Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. He ranked No. 64 in the state.

Wheeler (right) is CEO of Pathfinder Wealth Consulting, a registered independent advisory and financial planning firm formed in 2005 in Wilmington. He ranked No. 72 on the state list.

Wheeler began his financial career in 1999. Wheeler is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a bachelor's degree in finance. He is a certified financial planner, chartered life underwriter and accredited investment fiduciary. He is a member of the Commonwealth Advisory Council, Financial Planning Association and Financial Services Institute.

The "Best-In-State Wealth Advisors" list spotlights more than 3,000 top advisers across the country who were nominated by their firms, and then researched, interviewed and assigned a ranking within their respective states, according to Forbes' website.
