Rachel Cavenaugh, the director of financial aid at Cape Fear Community College, received the Eleanor S. Morris Distinguished Service Award, according to a news release.

Cavenaugh received the award at the N.C. Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NCASFAA) spring conference this year. The award is the highest honor by the NCASFAA, officials stated in the release.

“This award is presented to a financial aid administrator who has made important contributions to the association or to the student financial aid profession,” stated the release.

The honor is named after Eleanor S. Morris, a financial aid administrator who served the students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Cavenaugh has been involved with the NCASFAA for nearly 20 years, and has served various roles in the organization including vice president, president-elect and president, according to the release.

“It is a great honor to be recognized by my peers in the financial aid sphere,” said Cavenaugh in the release.
