N.C. Azalea Festival Announces Board

The N.C. Azalea Festival has announced its 2020 board of directors, and its new elected secretary, Beck Smith.

Smith is a life and insurance broker with GriffinEstep Benefit Group in Wilmington, according to a news release. He has lived in Wilmington for 17 years and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Smith has volunteered with the festival for more than 10 years. He has served as chair and co-chair of several committees, including souvenir book, festival banners, event production and Azalea transport committees, according to the release.

Board members re-elected for next year and their new positions are: Stephen Meinhold, president; Deirdre McGlone-Webb, president-elect; John Russ III, vice president; Denise Szaloky, treasurer; and Andrew Nettleman, assistant treasurer.
