Strickland's has expanded its brand. On March 29, the Wilmington company known for window treatments and custom closets launched Strickland’s Custom Draperies & Fabrics and Strickland’s Custom Garages. The new divisions are housed in the Strickland's sales location at 5422 Oleander Drive.

“From the beginning, I had the vision to add more product lines to fill what I perceive as gaps in the local marketplace," owner Fred Kumpel said in a news release. "As a car restorer and classic car enthusiast, I wanted a showroom devoted to custom garages, and I knew others did too. Strickland’s Custom Garages will feature multiple garage cabinetry lines, flooring, and storage solutions, including everything from car lifts to canoe and kayak storage.

"Likewise, designers and homeowners have repeatedly asked for a design center devoted to custom fabrics for draperies, bedding, and home décor. We now offer all of this and more.”

Rich Moore now heads the custom garage division.

Moore has a strong background in garage cabinetry, according to the release, which added that Moore began in the industry by working for a national manufacturer of steel storage cabinets sold nationwide to retailers and warehouse clubs. He later worked for two well-known national manufacturers of garage cabinetry, bringing their products to the marketplace via independent dealers, e-commerce companies, and single-family sales.
Moore recently relocated to Wilmington from Cleveland, Ohio, joining the Strickland’s team and assisting Kumpel with vendor selection prior to the showroom launch.

Long-time Strickland’s team members Chris de Jong and Ginger Thornton continue to lead the window coverings and custom closet divisions, respectively, the release stated.

In 2017, Strickland’s moved its showroom from its original location on 23rd Street to its current facility on Oleander Drive. The building houses four distinct showroom spaces occupied by the two new divisions as well as original divisions Strickland’s Closets & Home Organization and Strickland’s Blind, Shades & Shutters.
