Cape Fear Coalition Recognizes Several Supporters

Cape Fear Coalition for a Drug-Free Community recognized several agents of change, members and community supporters at its 10-year anniversary celebration, according to a news release.
 
The 10 year anniversary for the coalition, which is managed through Coastal Horizons Center, took place in December. The coalition was created in 2008 in response to increased underage drinking and substance use in New Hanover County.
 
Officials said the coalition works the with public and businesses regarding safe use of alcohol and prescription medications, and with policymakers to advocate for policies that support this.

Those that were recognized – supporters who have demonstrated dedication to the coalition’s mission – were Wilmington Police Department Dept. Chief Mitch Cunningham (Law Enforcement); Ben David, district attorney for North Carolina’s Sixth Prosecutorial District (Political Partner); Port City Community Church (Community Organization Partner); SaiMeya Williams (Youth Hero); Faye Dukes (Community Hero); and Iris Baker (Coalition Member).​

Members of the coalition represent private businesses, government social service organizations, law enforcement, health care, schools and universities and the public, officials said.
