Michael Weimer joined BB&T as a business service officer in commercial lending, according to a news release.

Weimer comes to BB&T after three years of commercial banking experience at Great Southern Bank in Springfield, Missouri. He joined BB&T in July.

Weimer received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wofford College and his master’s in business administration from Missouri State University.

Since graduating in 2015, Weimer has held various roles in commercial banking.

In his new role with BB&T, Weimer will be directly responsible for identifying, developing, managing and expanding commercial banking relationships in the greater Wilmington area, officials said in the release.

“As we continue to expand our team in the Greater Wilmington market, Michael is a valuable addition who has tremendous potential,” said Charlie Mattox, market president for BB&T, in the release. “He is a very hard worker and has a genuine interest in learning about people and various businesses. Michael will be an asset to our clients, our community and our local BB&T operation serving Southeastern North Carolina.”
