Three Doctors Join Cape Fear Heart Associates

Three doctors have joined NHRMC Physician Group – Cape Fear Heart Associates, according to a news release.

Sunil Iyer, Kristopher Swiger and Joshua Winslow have each joined the Wilmington practice, officials said.

“We are thrilled about the addition of Dr. Iyer, Dr. Swiger, and Dr. Winslow to Cape Fear Heart Associates,” William Smith, a cardiologist with Cape Fear Heart Associates, said in the release. “Their expertise and experience at renowned hospitals across the United States will bring our practice to a new level.”

NHRMC Physician Group – Cape Fear Heart Associates welcomes patients throughout the region at their five offices located in Wilmington, Bolivia, Whiteville, Southport and Jacksonville.

Iyer received his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Health and Society from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

During the past five years, he has been completing his fellowships at both the University of North Carolina Department of Medicine and the University of Virginia Health Systems Department of Cardiology. Officials said that during this time, he gained experience in interventional cardiology and vascular medicine.

Swiger earned his Bachelor of Science in biology and Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his post-graduate training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and from The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, officials said.

Swiger was most recently a clinical fellow at Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute. He also held educator positions at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, The Johns Hopkins Hospital and The University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Winslow received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Hobart College in Geneva, New York. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.

Since 2001, he has been a staff cardiologist for an internal medicine residency program. He also has various specialty board certifications in cardiology, including nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular medicine and internal medicine.
