Wilmington Woman Recognized For Commitment To Home Health Care

Tyke Ingram is one of four BAYADA employees recently recognized for their passion to the calling of home health care and their patients during November’s Home Care & Hospice Month.

BAYADA is a clinical care and support services provider at home for children and adults of all ages, according to a news release. Ingram is the director of Clinical Leadership and Development and manages BAYADA’s “White Shoes” and “White Cap” training programs.

Ingram originally sought a career in the military but after joining the JROTC, she quickly realized it wasn’t for her, according to the release.

She eventually found her passion in nursing. After high school, Ingram enrolled in nursing school at Winston-Salem State University.

While at Winston-Salem, she learned many of the nursing students were working part time as home health aides at BAYADA, and she jumped at the chance to join.

Following college, Ingram wanted to work for BAYADA but had to pass since the company did not have a presence in Charlotte at that point.

“After earning my BSN, I prepared to move back to Charlotte,” Ingram said. “Melinda Phillips (who was director of the Winston-Salem office then) asked me to keep BAYADA in mind as I moved on with my career. There was no BAYADA office in Charlotte at that time, but it was on the horizon, so Melinda didn’t want to lose touch.”

Shortly after, BAYADA gained a presence in Charlotte, and Ingram became a nursing supervisor there, officials said.

She then earned her CRRN (Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse) and joined the BAYADAbility Rehab team, helping to support clinical leaders in caring for rehabilitation clients.

Today she is part of the BAYADA team, which includes more than 18,000 home health care professionals serving communities in 22 states from 330 offices.
