Rick Catlin of New Hanover County has been appointed to the N.C. Coastal Resources Commission.
 
Catlin is president of Catlin Engineers and Scientists. He holds professional certifications as both an engineer and geologist. Catlin previously served as the House representative for District 20, co-chaired the House Environmental Committee and received a N.C. Coastal Federation Pelican Award in 2015 for his efforts to protect groundwater quality.
 
The Coastal Resources Commission was created when the General Assembly adopted the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) in 1974, and establishes policies for the N.C. Coastal Management Program and adopts implementing rules for both CAMA and the N.C. Dredge and Fill Act.
