HWF Holds Annual Preservations Awards

In addition to celebrating its 50th anniversary, Historic Wilmington Foundation held its annual Preservation Awards ceremony last month.
 
The event is held each year to recognize restoration, rehabilitation, new development and preservation leadership or individual contributions in the field, a news release stated.
 
During the ceremony, Residents of Old Wilmington and Wilmington Downtown Inc. also presented awards to recipients.
 
Here is a list of all the honorees:
 
• New Hanover County commissioners and county staff for the rehabilitation of the New Hanover County office building at 320 Chestnut St.
 
• Delinda Harrelson, of Home Solutions Group, and Mari Ann Harvey, of Harvey’s Home Solutions, for the rehabilitation of the Yopp House at 1911 Nun St.
 
• Joshua and Adrienne Hodges for the restoration of the Daniel Howard House at 312 N. Sixth St.
 
• Julie Boatwright Pettee and Robert Pettee for the rehabilitation and restoration of the Dubois Boatwright House at 14 S. Third St.
 
• Wais and Laura Nasser for the rehabilitation of the Pulliam House at 17 S. Fourth St.
 
• The Old Skool Car Club for the restoration and rehabilitation of the Watha School at 9955 Hwy. 11 in Willard.
 
• Diane and J.R. Robinson for the preservation and restoration of the Gause Tomb at Hale Swamp Road in Ocean Isle Beach.
 
• Brian T. Hill for the rehabilitation of 409 S. Fourth St.
 
• Matt Scharf for compatible new construction of the Urban Oasis project at 608 Castle St.
 
• Amy Grant, an award of Merit, for the rehabilitation of the Art in Bloom Gallery at 210 Princess St.
 
• The Katherine Howell Award went to Dolores Williams for outstanding leadership in the creation of Architectural Salvage and in furthering the mission of the Historic Wilmington Foundation.
 
• The Thomas H. Wright Award Lifetime Achievement Award went to Janet Seapker and Edward Turberg for their lifelong dedication to the field of historic preservation.
