South State Bank hired Sara Murchison as vice president and banker at the bank’s Military Cutoff location and Joanna Thorndyke as a junior mortgage loan officer at the bank’s Leland office.
 
Murchison has worked in the banking industry for 30 years with both large and local community banks. She graduated from University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
 
Thorndyke (shown left) has experience working with both boutique mortgage lending companies and regional banks, a release stated.
