The Cape Fear Community College Foundation recently announced its first board member emerita, Louise McColl.

McColl previously served two, six-year terms on the foundation board and was chairwoman for two of those years. She was also a three-year term member of the college's board of trustees, according to a news release, which added that, as an emeritus foundation board member, McColl can continue to advise the board.

McColl helped the foundation reach the $1 million fundraising goal for the first time during her tenure as chairwoman. She also started the effort to renovate the Schwartz Center and has always shown loyal support to CFCC athletics, the release stated. McColl assists with the Gift of Education event every year and is accountable for many endowments that are made to the college, including an endowment in her and her mother's name, the release stated.

McColl is also president of McColl & Associates, a marketing and public relations firm that specializes in meetings and event planning for other businesses. She serves on 20 boards locally and nationally, and recently chaired the Commissioning Committee for the Submarine North Carolina SSN777.
