New Hanover Regional Medical Center Physician Group recently welcomed new medical professionals to three of its women’s health-related practices.

Jennifer Calfee joined the Glen Meade Center for Women’s Health at its Wilmington location, 1809 Glen Meade Road.

“Dr. Calfee brings a level of expertise and familiarity to our practice that will benefit patients," practice administrator Scott Beaver said in a news release. “She has more than a decade of experience as an OB/GYN at several practices in eastern North Carolina, and was most recently the obstetrics and gynecology department chair at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington, N.C.”

After earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology from East Carolina University, Calfee continued at ECU’s School of Medicine to receive her doctoral degree. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at NHRMC, where she was chief resident from 2003 to 2004, the release stated.

Calfee is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

In a separate release, NHRMC Physician Group announced the addition of nurse midwife Ann King (at left) to its Coastal OB/GYN Specialists & Midwifery practice. As a certified nurse midwife, King “will provide primary health, family planning, gynecological and low-to-moderate risk obstetrical care,” according to the release.

King graduated from University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree, after which she received a master's degree in accountancy from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She returned to school to earn her master's in nurse midwifery from the University of Illinois in Chicago.

King is one of five midwives providing care to patients at Coastal OB/GYN Specialists & Midwifery, located in the NHRMC Medical Mall at 2221 S. 17th St. The midwives provide care for women at every stage of life including preventive care, wellness exams, PMS/PMDD treatment, prenatal care and childbirth support, the release stated.

The third recent addition is Imelda N. Odibo (at right), who has joined the NHRMC Physician Group’s Atlantic Fetal Medicine practice. Odibo is fellowship trained in maternal-fetal medicine and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, the practice announced in a news release.

Atlantic Fetal Medicine is a new NHRMC Physician Group practice, located at 2150 Shipyard Blvd., which offers a variety of services for women who are at high risk of complications during pregnancy.

Odibo graduated from the University of Lagos in Lagos, Nigeria, where she received a bachelor’s degree in zoology. She taught high school biology in Newark, New Jersey for six years before pursuing a doctoral degree in medicine from Meharry Medical College. She completed her residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and received her fellowship training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

She is a member of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Outside the office, Odibo participates in medical mission trips to her home country of Nigeria and has research interests in global health initiatives, hypertension, hydramnios (excess amniotic fluid accumulation) and diabetes, according to the release.
