Local Retailer Named Among 'best Bike Shops'

By Jenny Callison, posted Sep 29, 2015
Bike Cycles of Wilmington learned recently that has been named one of America’s Best Bike Shops for 2015 by the National Bicycle Dealers Association.

The shop, in business since 2006, sells, repairs and rents bicycles. It is located at 6801 Parker Farm Road in Mayfaire.

“There are approximately 4,000 bike shops in the United States, and fewer than 300 were chosen to be named ‘America’s Best,’” according to the NBDA news release.

Shops applying for the designation were asked to describe what sets them apart from the average retailer, the release continued. Mystery shoppers then evaluated the business in more detail by visiting the stores, reviewing their websites, and contacting the shops by phone to assess the performance from a consumer’s perspective.

The recipients of the America’s Best Bike Shops title are also rated on their support for their communities as well as support for bicycle advocacy both locally and nationally, according to the release.

2015 is the third year the NBDA has sponsored the program.
