Members of the Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue Team distinguished themselves earlier this summer at a competition presented by the U.S. Lifesaving Associations.

For the second year in a row, the team bested other teams to win the South Atlantic Regional Championships, according to a news release.

The contest, held at Carolina Beach, involved lifeguards from 17 agencies in the region, which extends from Virginia Beach, Virginia south to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, the release stated.
