McNeely Joins MCCP

By Zachery Eanes, posted Jul 28, 2015
Patrick McNeely joined Medical Center Compounding Pharmacy (MCCP) earlier this year as a pharmacist, according to a news release.

McNeely came to MCCP after being the clinical discharge pharmacist and outpatient pharmacist at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

MCCP, located at 912 S. 16th St., is a compounding pharmacy, meaning it specializes in compounding medications. Compounded medications are prescriptions that are written by physicians, veterinarians and other legally authorized prescribers and prepared for an individual patient by a specially trained pharmacist.

Examples of these types of prescriptions (given on MCCP’s website) include children’s doses of a medicine that is commercially manufactured only in adult-size doses, compounds specially formulated because of patient tolerance issues with the inactive ingredients (such as gluten or sugar) in manufactured medicines and compounds made of discontinued medicine that a doctor believes is need for his or her patient.

McNeely received his doctor of pharmacy degree from Campbell University.
