Landfall Foundation granted $4,000 to Cape Fear Community College’s health science program last month to aid more students in becoming certified in their field of study, hoping to increase students’ chances of becoming successfully employed, according to a news release.
 
This year’s grant will specifically help students finish the dental hygiene program at CFCC.
 
“Professional certifications are required for our students to get jobs,” Regina McBarron, chairwoman of CFCC’s health science programs, said in the release. “Many of our students struggle to pay for the certification exams.”
 
Landfall Foundation provides funds to local nonprofit organizations for programs and projects that provide for the arts, education, and health and welfare in the Wilmington area.
