Hammerheads Add Bundy And Briggs As First Team Coaches

Wilmington Hammerheads FC has hired Kenny Bundy and Mark Briggs as first team coaches for the club’s 2015 USL season, the team announced recently. Both are involved in all aspects of player support and team preparations.

Both coaches’ primary responsibilities consist of “executing training on a daily basis, monitoring players, and supporting individual and team development on and off the field,” according to the club’s news release.

“Kenny and Mark are first and foremost great coaches,” Wilmington Hammerheads technical director and head coach Carson Porter said in the release. “Their insight, passion, drive and experience make them both excellent professionals. They have the respect of the locker room and we are delighted they are joining the first team staff. Beyond that, as leaders of our youth club they help build a bridge between our young players and our professionals as we continue to build our organization into what we believe can be one of the top non-MLS clubs in the country.”

The two new coaches – each of whom has played for the Hammerheads in the past – are involved in the Hammerheads’ youth affiliate as well. Bundy (at left), who donned a Hammerheads jersey in several previous seasons – most recently in 2009 – serves as executive director of Wilmington Hammerheads Youth FC, the largest youth soccer club in the region, the release stated. Briggs, a Hammerheads player in 2009 and 2012, serves as technical director for Wilmington Hammerheads Youth FC.
