Enterprise Fleet donates to hospice program
The Lower Cape Fear Hospice (LCFH) recently received a $1,500 donation from Enterprise Fleet Management for its Sunrise Kids program, according to a press release.

Sunrise Kids is a program focused on aiding children who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Counselors provide young people with support during such an emotional change, according to hospice officials.

“Enterprise Fleet Management’s donation will be used to further fund our Sunrise Kids programs, which are free for young people coping with the loss of a loved one,” Lindsey Champion, LCFH development manager, said in the release.

Estate gift honors wife, benefits LCFH
Bill McNevich has donated funds to name the North Hall of Lower Cape Fear Hospice’s SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in honor of his late wife, Diane, the facility announced last month. In 2014, Diane died at the hospice center, according to a press release.

"After spending little more than a week at the care center, I realized what a great organization Lower Cape Fear Hospice is, and what tremendous work they do to help people maintain their quality of life and live their final days with dignity and comfort. It was an honor to name the North Hall in the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in memory of Diane," Bill McNevich said in the release.

Diane McNevich had volunteered for the Little Sisters of the Poor. Her career was spent in the medical field, and she continued to volunteer to help care for sick people. In 1998, she was diagnosed with cancer for the first time. After beating it twice, she was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2013. In January 2014 she was admitted to the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.

“Estate gifts like the one made by Bill McNevich are instrumental to Lower Cape Fear Hospice bridging the cost of providing end-of-life healthcare and what is received from insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid,” Laurie Taylor, LCFH vice president of fund development, said in the release.

Hospice garners marketing awards
The Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Society recently presented LCFH with two gold Wallie Awards, which the association awards to winning health care marketing and public relations campaigns.

LCFH won the honors for a 30-second radio campaign and a 30-second television commercial category for its “You Matter” initiative, according to a news release.

“We were excited and honored to win gold awards for both television and radio commercials for our ‘You Matter’ campaign,” Kimberly Paul, vice president of communication and outreach, said in the release. “These ads truly represent the heart of Lower Cape Fear Hospice’s philosophy: You — patient, family member, community member, volunteer, donor — matter to us."

Paul, along with LCFH staff members Stacey Manning, communications manager, and Kim Emory, designer, were involved in creating the campaign, according to the release. They worked closely with Adam Alphin on the television commercial as well as Kristine Smith and Brian White of Sunrise Broadcasting on the radio campaign, the release stated.
