The Cape Fear Sail and Power Squadron has appointed a new commanding officer, education officer and assistant education officer, according to a news release.
 
During the group’s January meeting, Richard Barnet was installed as the new commander of the boating club.
 
Ed LoBalbo and Ned Rhodes were appointed education officer and assistant education officer, respectively.
 
The group also handed out several awards to members.
 
Mike Cramer received the Commander’s Award; Teresa Sorrenti received the 1st Lady Commander’s Award; LoBalbo received the Squadron Education Award; Sue Thompson received the Corinthian Award; Roger Simmons received the Old Salt Award; Francine Roché received the P/C/C William Selden Award; and Jean Stacy received the X-Factor Award.
