Piedmont Natural Gas Donates To Culinary Program

By Joe Lowe, posted Jan 27, 2015
Cape Fear Community College’s Culinary Technology Program received a donation of $500 from Piedmont Natural Gas to establish an annual scholarship, according to a press release.

Bob Jones, associate director of institutional advancement at CFCC, conveyed his gratitude for the new scholarship.

“Our students will greatly benefit from this scholarship. Piedmont Natural Gas’ contribution will help train the very people who will one day use their products. It’s a win-win.”

As well as donating, a group from Piedmont Natural Gas recently traveled to CFCC’s Our Place restaurant to enjoy French cuisine prepared by CFCC’s Classic Cuisine Culinary students. The group spoke with several students in CFCC’s culinary lab.

Formed in 2004 to support nonprofit organizations, the Piedmont Natural Gas Foundation has invested more than $8 million in the communities it serves.

“Our company is quite large and continues to expand," said Kevin Anderson, key account services representative with Piedmont Natural Gas. “There will be a growing need to hire highly trained individuals into positions from administration and sales to welding and engineering. Investing in CFCC students now will help us to continue to have highly-skilled employees at Piedmont Natural Gas in the future.”
