Novant Health has welcomed a family medicine physician, urologist and obstetrician/gynecologist to its professional staff in Brunswick County, according to recent releases from the Winston-Salem-based health care system.

Pilar Johnson has joined physician John Moore at Novant Health’s Oceanside Family Medicine, 1456 Howe St., Suite 201 in Southport. As a specialist in family medicine, Johnson sees patients of all ages.

A University of North Carolina Wilmington alumna, Johnson completed medical school in St. Maarten and did her residency at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, according to a news release.

“While I’ve enjoyed my time in Maine, I am looking forward to getting back to southeastern North Carolina to be close to family and to pursue a career that I love,” Johnson said in the release.

Meanwhile, Steven Robbins (at left) has joined Novant Health Urology Partners in Bolivia, a second news release stated. He works with Lydia Laboccetta at the practice, which is located at 584 Hospital Drive, Suite D, next to Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center.

A urologist with more than 15 years of experience, Robbins comes to Brunswick County from private practice in Long Island, New York, having completed medical school and residency at New York University School of Medicine and Mount Sinai Health System in New York City, the release stated.

Robbins is also an accomplished presenter and author in the medical field, according to the release.

The physicians of Novant Health OB/GYN recently welcomed Richard Thompson (at right) to the group, the Novant system also announced in a third release. Thompson, who completed his residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, is seeing patients at each of the group’s three locations.

Thompson received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, and his medical degree from the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, the release stated, adding that Thompson has advanced training in minimally invasive surgery and will offer da Vinci robotic gynecologic surgery at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center.

All physicians at Novant Health OB/GYN are on staff at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center.

Novant Health OB/GYN has an office next to Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center in Bolivia, in the Sea Trail Medical Center in Sunset Beach and in the Waterford Medical Plaza in Leland.
