The Cape Fear Community College Foundation has welcomed several new members to its board of directors, according to a news release.
Kyle Bullock, Janie Canty-Mitchell, Christopher Dunn, Jack Fuller, Teresa Huffmon, James Mayew and Margaret Weller-Stargell have joined the board, stated the release.
"Members of the CFCC Foundation Board of Directors serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the Foundation. They take an active role in special events and the cultivation of resources necessary for the Foundation to advance its mission of helping the college and its students," stated the release.
Bullock is operations manager for Mid-Atlantic Roofing Supply. He is also a CFCC alumnus. While at the college, he served as a student body president and member of the student ambassador program. He transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to continue his education, earning two degrees.
Canty-Mitchell is the founder of LeadersCare LLC. She also had a decades-long nursing career, holding leadership positions in public health, teaching, higher education administration, grant management and research. She is also a founding board member of the National Healthcare Diversity Council.
Dunn is a managing partner of ATD Building Group. He has helped create more than 18 small startup companies.
Fuller retired as chairman of the board of GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy in 2011, after 38 years with GE. He previously served as president and CEO of GE Hitachi, CEO of Global Nuclear Fuel, and as the CFO for the GE nuclear business. He has most recently been working with Ozz Clean Energy, Upwind Solutions, PaR Systems and the Broadway for a Better World initiative, stated the release.
Huffmon is the owner of VanBuren Properties LLC. For over 20 years, she was employed by Atlantic Neurosurgical and Spine Specialists as a practice manager. She currently serves on the board of the Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington, the Cape Fear Literacy Council and the advisory board of the University of North Carolina Wilmington Swain Center for Executive Education and Economic Development.
Mayew graduated from UNCW with multiple undergraduate degrees and earned an MBA from the university's Cameron School of Business. He began his professional career with the UNCW Athletic Department before accepting a position at Morgan Stanley, where he is currently vice president of the FICC Trading Division, stated the release.
Weller-Stargell is president and CEO of Coastal Horizons Center, where she has been employed since 1985. She is also the founder and president of the Willie Stargell Foundation, a private nonprofit organization that raises money to assist those struggling with kidney disease.
"It is such an honor to have these esteemed members of our community joining us to raise funds to support students in pursuit of their education. The board's efforts will help support students who are working for a better life for themselves and their families," said CFCC Vice President of Advancement and the Arts Shane Fernando, in the release.
