NHRMC Welcomes Timothy Novosel As Medical Director Of Trauma Services

New Hanover Regional Medical Center has welcomed Timothy Novosel as the medical director of Trauma Services, according to a news release.

Novosel previously practiced at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, and at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk. He has held various academic and leadership positions at Eastern Virginia Medical School.

“Dr. Novosel brings the experience and skill set to enable NHRMC to jump to the next level as a Trauma Center,” Thomas Clancy, outgoing medical director of Trauma Services, said in the release.

Novosel received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he also completed his residency. He received his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry with a minor in biology from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

Throughout his career, Novosel has received various awards and recognitions for his work, officials said.

During his residency, he received the John Baker Award, which is given to the most outstanding senior resident decided by the community and faculty. In 2014 and 2016, he received the Community Surgeon of the Year award presented by Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.

In addition to his appointment in trauma services, Novosel will also see patients at NHRMC Physician Specialists – General Surgery Specialists, which offers a wide range of surgical services, specializing in abdominal wall and gastrointestinal procedures, officials said.
