Live Oak Bank Names Susan Janson Chief Risk Officer

Susan Janson has been named as chief risk officer for Live Oak Bank, according to a news release.

Janson assumed the role on April 16 and will oversee risk management, including regulatory relations and compliance. officials said. 

“Susan’s extensive experience and deep understanding of sound governance practices will play an integral role in Live Oak’s ability to scale our business model to better serve entrepreneurs and small business owners across the country,” Live Oak Bank Chairman and CEO Chip Mahan, said in the release.

Janson brings more than 30 years of financial and risk management experience to Live Oak. She previously served as senior capital markets and securities specialist for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) where she led regulatory risk assessments for financial institutions, including working with FDIC staff in Washington D.C., other federal and state agencies, and bankers to further understand and implement sound governance practices.

Prior to that, she served as managing director at First National Capital Markets and Comerica Securities. In addition to a career specializing in risk, capital markets, program leadership and team development, she received a bachelor's of arts in finance from Lawrence University in Southfield, Michigan.
