Greater Wilmington Business Journal Adds Winkel, Snow

By Staff Reports, posted Sep 13, 2016
Veteran journalist Vince Winkel has joined the Greater Wilmington Business Journal and will focus on covering economic development, transportation, technology and other important regional topics.

Winkel moved here from Longmont, Colorado, where he reported on business for the Boulder Daily Camera and Longmont Times-Call newspapers.

"Vince has several decades of experience in journalism that includes working in print as well as for radio, TV and online outlets. We look forward to adding his skills and talent to the Business Journal's reporting team," said Vicky Janowski, editor of the Business Journal.

Winkel previously served as the media director for BMW Motorcycles North America. He has also worked as a broadcast journalist for CNN, the BBC and CBS News. Winkel has logged time as senior editor and producer for America Public Media, managing the websites for the Marketplace and Sound Money programs.

Winkel was born and raised in Boston, and remains a loyal Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots fan.

The publication also recently hired former journalist Hilary Snow, who began a new role last month as the content marketing editor/writer for the Business Journal and WILMA magazine.

A Cape Fear native and University of North Carolina Wilmington graduate, Snow has nearly 15 years of experience in journalism and marketing writing, having worked for several area print and online publications, including The State Port Pilot in Southport and, most recently, Port City Daily in Wilmington.

At the Business Journal, Snow is primarily responsible for overseeing and editing the Insights section, as well as the Insightful Discussions and a variety of additional sponsored content that allows business leaders to share their expertise and perspectives on issues within their industries.

“We are excited to have Hilary on our content marketing team with her extensive experience in writing, editing and interviewing,” said Melissa Pressley, vice president of sales and business development for the Business Journal and WILMA.
