Gov. Pat McCrory’s office has announced the appointment of three individuals from this area to state entities.

Mary Crump of Brunswick County was named to the N.C. Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Crump is an interpreting services specialist for the state who worked at the N.C. Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for seven years. Before that, she worked as a community interpreter for 20 years.

The council makes recommendations to the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services for cost-effective provisions, coordination and improvement of services to people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf and blind, according to the news release. There are 28 members on the board, each of whom serves a four-year term. The governor appoints 20 members. 

Samuel R. Ibrahim of New Hanover County was appointed to serve on the N.C. State Social Services Commission, the release stated. Ibrahim is a computer technology professional who is vice president of technology for Intracoastal Realty.  
The commission adopts rules and regulations for the conduct of the state's social service programs and has the power to adopt, amend and rescind rules and regulations, the release stated. The commission has 13 members, each serving a four-year term. The governor appoints all members. 

New Hanover County business owner Hector Ingram was named to the N.C. Appraisal Board. The owner of Ingram & Co., he is a state-certified real estate appraiser.

The purpose of the board is to license, certify and regulate real estate appraisers, including processing license applications and processing applications from schools and other organizations wishing to offer pre-licensing/certification and continuing education courses, according to the release.
