Several teachers, principals and supervisors from New Hanover County Schools have received awards recently.

Earlier this month, NHCS  announced its educators of the year, according to a news release.

The following were named New Hanover County Schools' Teachers of the Year for elementary, middle and high school respectively: Laura Graham of Eaton Elementary School, Gregory Law of Trask Middle School and Katie Snyder of Hoggard High School.

Snyder was named teacher of the year for the entire system of schools.

Jerry Oates, principal at Williston Middle School, was named principal of the year for the system.

Oates and Snyder will go on to represent NCHS at the regional level.

Three teachers from New Hanover County Schools were chosen as Beginning Teacher Promise of Leadership Award recipients by the Watson College of Education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington last month, according to a second news release.

The three teachers selected (shown left to right, at right) were Allison Dixon of Laney High School and Stanley Hollins and Joshua Stephens of Ashley High School.

The award was based on a commitment to teaching diverse learners, the use of technology in the classroom and leadership potential, the release stated.

Wendy Kraft (at left), supervisor of online earning for NHCS, was named the N.C. Virtual Public Schools (NCVPS) E-Learning Coordinator of the Year last month, according to a second news release. Among nominees from the 115 districts in North Carolina that use NCVPS, the state identified Kraft as the most impactful e-learning coordinator in the state.
