Easter Sunday kicks off the spring Sunday brunch season, and restaurants in and around Wilmington are serving the meal this weekend and beyond.

Brunch is especially popular not just on Easter Sunday but on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, too, although research shows that diners like brunch year-round and are seeking more daring offerings.

Bonefish Grill, 4719 New Centre Drive, starts Sunday brunch hours this weekend, when it will offer its full menu beginning at 11 a.m. on Sundays.

Keep an eye open at Bonefish Grill locations for expanding brunch offerings such as  creme brulee French toast and specialty champagne-based cocktails, Bonefish Grill president Stephen Judge said.

“Our Sunday brunch provides our guests new, innovative and delicious options served with chef coat service … ,” Judge said.

Kornerstone Bistro, 8262 Market St., has added an 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday brunch to its lineup, but hours will be extended to 3 p.m. on Easter. The menu lists a charcuterie board, crab cake Benedict and breakfast pizza topped with sausage, prosciutto, mozzarella and tomato sauce and two sunny-side up eggs. Bloody Mary cocktails get various themes and seasonings such as the Coastal Carolina with Old Bay and a grilled shrimp skewer garnish.

Blockade Runner’s brunch happens 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Wrightsville Beach resort’s East restaurant. The menu brings a carving station, various chilled seafood selections and six entrees, including pistachio-crusted mahi with lemon beurre blanc.

Downtown, Circa 1922 will serve an Easter Sunday brunch menu 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Other downtown spots that already offer Sunday brunch are: Rx, 421 Castle St.; Jesters Java, 606 Castle St.; Mixto, 5 S. Water St.; The Basics in the Cotton Exchange, 319 N. Front St.; and The Harp, 1423 S. 3rd St.

Brunch also happens at Boca Bay, 2025 Eastwood Road; Sweet & Savory and The Pub at Sweet and Savory, both on Pavillion Place off Eastwood Road near Wrightsville Beach; and Carolina Beach’s Surf House Cafe, 604 N. Lake Park Blvd.
